In those days, every village, home, everyone stopped working and reunited. Sacred New Year is the occasion to refresh everything. In those days, the harvest is usually finished, the villagers do the thanksgiving ceremony. Tet holiday everyone shared warm joys, gave each other gifts to wish each other a happy new year and many other meaningful customs.
Officially Tet is a holiday consisting of the first three days of the lunar new year, but actually we celebrate the new year is longer than that. The most sacred moment is New Year's Eve, the time of 0 o'clock begins to step through the new year. Every Vietnamese family has a calendar based on our day, the day according to the moon (Lunar calendar) to keep track of New Year's Day.
MEANING OF TET DAY
Vietnamese people celebrate New Year with sacred faith. Tet is a reunion day, a refreshing day, a thanksgiving day, and a day of hope.
Reunion Day - Tet is always a reunion day for every family. No matter who trades, works or goes to school far away, they often try to save money and time to spend Tet holidays with their families. It is the expectation of all people, people who go away as well as people at home, all looking forward to Tet and meeting with their families.

Tet is also a reunion day with all those who have died. From dinner on the night of 30, before New Year's Eve, the families of Buddhism all offered incense to invite the spirit of grandparents and ancestors who passed away to eat and enjoy Tet with their children and grandchildren.

On New Year, people often perform rituals to offer incense to the gods, according to the legend who blessed our family with good health, lots of money, good luck and happiness.

New Year - New Year is the first day of the new year, everyone has the opportunity to review the old work and refresh everything. New jobs may take the form of cleaning, sweeping lime, painting, and refurbishing houses. Or refresh the emotional and spiritual part of the person, to make the relationship with loved ones more sympathetic or to make his spirit more comfortable and fresh. The floor is scrubbed, candlesticks and burners are polished. Tables and chairs and furniture are cleaned dust. Adults as well as children all wash and shampoo, wear newly sewed clothes. How much debt is paid before the new year is over to unlucky or to create a credibility creditor. For each person, the sorrow and quarrel are put aside. At least three days of Tet, everyone laughs together, speaking slowly, politely to wish the whole year the relationship is good. People believe that the happy New Year holidays will signal a good new year coming.

Tet is the birthday of everyone, everyone is one year older so the first saying when meeting is to celebrate one another. Adults celebrate the age of children and the elderly to wish them good food, grow up, be obedient and study well; and the elderly live long and healthy so that their children and grandchildren may be blessed.

Day of optimism and hope - The past year has brought with it bad luck and the coming New Year is full of optimism. If the old year is quite lucky, then the good news will last through next year.

On New Year, people dance lion and lion dance everywhere, especially the business shops to bring luck and prosperity.

Tet is also a wedding season. Couples like to get married at the beginning of the year, spring and the sky is beautiful and the season of hope. They hope for a new life, husband and wife live happily together forever.

Thanksgiving Day - Vietnamese people choose New Year as an opportunity to give thanks to their gratitude for having enjoyed the past year. Children give thanks to parents, parents give thanks to grandparents, ancestors, and thanksgiving staff at command levels. On the contrary, the superior also thanks the staff for the parties or bonus gifts for Tet.
